What a great start to the 2023 racing season!

Within the space of 10 days, we've raced 3 teams across 2 competitions, one of which was ours - it's been a busy few weeks! Our open teams Kites and Kestrels were in action at the Waggies competition in Ardingly over the Easter weekend, where we also raced a very green foundations team.

Kites, with a line up of Jess, Cassi, Dory and Buzz came 2nd in division 3 with a fastest time of 18.23s. Jess is one of our fastest dogs and she maintained her speed throughout the day as our starter dog. Cassi and Dory both showed a solid performance maintaining the flow of the relay in positions 2 and 3, and Buzz entered his first open competition as last dog, showing he has come so far in his confidence and focus!

Kites

Kestrels, with a line up of Kizzy, Luna, Bracken, Piper and Finn came 3rd in division 5, with a fastest time of 20.15s. As we had 5 dogs in the team, each dog could have a little break from the racing which is great when you have young or older dogs in the team. Kizzy took control as starter dog, with an amazing average start of 0.09s! And Finn took last dog position in his first open competition.

Kestrels

Some of our newest members were on show in our Kookies foundation team - featuring Yuna, Storm, Maya and Zephyr. Dogs and handlers performed fantastically, and took 2nd place in their division with 43 clean runs out of a maximum of 48. These dogs are showing some great promise for the racing season this year!

Kookies

Last weekend, we ran a competition at the All About Dogs show at Newbury, where Kites were racing in division 3. Our very reliable Kizzy was starter dog, followed by Luna, Cassi and Buzz, and they achieved a fastest time of 19.51s. Running over 6" jumps, both Buzz and Cassi achieved new PBs for this season - Buzz with 4.17s and Cassi with 4.51s - fantastic results for them! But Luna showed real star quality - at the grand age of 10, upped her best time from last competition with a new season best of 4.53s! And going by the number of PBs coming from other teams, our All About Dogs competition was a real success!

... what a great start to the racing year!

Amazing start to the season, with dogs starting to gel and show what they are capable of. It's always a nervous moment when dogs start racing in open competition but they were all paw perfect, well done to all dogs you were amazing 👏
